No DVOR may keep flights away

Ludhiana:  With authorities at the Airport Authority of India waiting for approval from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), to make the Doppler Very High Frequency Omni Directional Range (DVOR) functional, landing of the lone flight from Delhi will be difficult in the next few days, which are expected to be foggy.
The DVOR is of great significance in the winter as it reduces the visibility requirement for landing of flights from the present 5 kms to 2,500 meters.
According to Sahnewal airport manager VP Jain, "The DVOR has not been made operational as yet and we are awaiting approval for the same from the DGCA. I hope we get approval from DGCA within 20 days so that we can make DVOR fully functional.
