Mapusa: Pernem citizens will be given first preference in job opportunities created by the Greenfield Mopa airport project, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said while addressing the annual day function of a school in Pernem on Tuesday. "The government will keep its word and provide jobs to the people from Pernem taluka on a priority basis in the job opportunities created by the project," Parrikar said, adding, "People will get jobs on flights or at the airport, I can assure you that."
Parrikar had earlier said that the government would invite a global tender for the proposed new international airport at Mopa in North Goa by March next year. Citing environmental clearance as the reason for the delay in initiating the bidding process, Parrikar had said that the government is waiting for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report.
