The special investigation cell (SIC) of the Punjab Police on Thursday arrested a Tarn Taran district resident from the Chennai international airport in connection with the Moga passport scam of 2008. The accused has been identified as Sandeep Singh — a resident of Kotdharm in Chand Kalan.
“While the accused has a passport issued by the Amritsar regional passport officer, he also has passport issued from Chandigarh on fake address of Dunne Ke village in Moga. The SIC had issued a look out circular (LOC) to the immigration department regarding him and as soon as Singh reached the Chennai airport, he was arrested,” SSP Surjit Singh Grewal said.
According to sources, Singh went to Singapore a-year-and-a-half ago, but was denied work permit there. Thus, he returned to India on Thursday and was arrested.
