Turbulence ahead: ATR pullout will spell trouble for Tripura

Agartala: The Union ministry of civil aviation has decided to withdraw ATR-50 aircrafts from the northeast, raising concerns of a disruption in connectivity between the cities.
The Tripura government had demanded the withdrawal of the aircraft of Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India from Northeast, over five years ago.
The latest communique of civil aviation intimated all the state governments in the northeast that the ATR service would be withdrawn from the region from the beginning of 2013. Sources said all airport authorities and security concerns were informed about the ministry's decision.
