33 Russians sent back from Goa airport

Vasco: Immigration officials at Dabolim airport sent back 33 Russians who had arrived early Sunday morning to celebrate the New Year, as their tour operator failed to carry out the procedure for group landing permit (GLP).
An immigration officer said, "The tour operator has to ask for GLP at least three days in advance. In this case the flight was scheduled to land at 10pm on Saturday and the agency asked for the permit the same morning."
As the GLP was refused, the concerned authorities in Russia were informed not to send the group to Goa. "In spite of that the charter arrived with 33 passengers and demanded the GPL," the official said.
