Bhubaneswar: Bird menace continues to pose a threat to flights during take off and landing at the Biju Patnaik Airport here even though animal waste has been cleaned, trees cut and slaughter houses demolished. The airport authority will move the state government again to address the problem before starting domestic flight operations at the new terminal and the international at the old terminal.
"Birds are still flocking to the northern and southern sides of the runway. We discussed the issue at the last meeting with forest department, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other officials. But even after the cleaning the drive and cutting of trees, large number of birds crowd the airport's runway," said director Sharad Kumar.
