Bomb threat for flight turns out to be hoax

Chennai: A bomb threat call sent airport authorities into a tizzy on Monday morning. An anonymous caller warned the police control room at 9.30am that a terrorist would trigger a blast on a Chennai-Trichy flight. It later turned out to be a hoax.
Security was heightened at the airport and the dog squad, bomb detection and disposal teams of the city police carried out extensive checks. The CISF bomb detection team too was pressed into action and a thorough check of passengers and aircraft conducted. All the checks were carried out between 10am and noon before it was confirmed that the call was a hoax.
Police did not provide details about the call except to say that it might have been made from a public booth and that they were investigating.
