Chennai: The new terminals at Chennai airport are ready and the administrators here are very keen to have the inauguration in the third week of January.
They are particularly keen that the new buildings in Chennai are inaugurated before Kolkata’s new terminal inauguration, slated for January 20. “We should not lag behind in inaugurating our facilities particularly since we had begun our project much before Kolkata,” said a senior airport official in Chennai.
Since President Pranab Mukherjee, being the son of the soil, will be inaugurating the Kolkata terminal, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is trying to get the Prime Minister over for the Chennai inauguration. Also, the airport officials are very keen on having chief minister J. Jayalalithaa at the inaugural of the prestigious international airport facilities.
