Political turbulence stalls Birsa Munda airport opening

Ranchi: Passengers at Birsa Munda Airport will continue to face a harrowing time as the Union civil aviation ministry has postponed inauguration of the new terminal building owing to the political crisis in the state. This is despite the Airports Authority of India (AAI) conducting a successful trial run.
AAI had decided to inaugurate the state-of-the-art building before the ODI between India and England on January 19 in Ranchi. AAI sources said Union civil aviation minister Ajit Singh along with chief minister Arjun Munda were supposed to inaugurate the facility on January 17.
