SI had major role in human trafficking: Crime Branch

The Crime Branch on Tuesday informed the Kerala High Court that a suspended Sub-Inspector at the immigration wing of the Nedumbassery airport, who is accused of helping a woman fly out to Muscat on a fake passport, had played a major role in human trafficking.
The police made the submission when an anticipatory bail petition filed by the fourth accused Raju Mathew, Sub-Inspector, Immigration Wing, Nedumbassery, came up for hearing.
The woman was allowed to travel with a fake passport from Kochi to Muscat. The police had also registered another case for sexually exploiting the woman. The petitioner had played a major role in forging passports, the prosecution argued.
The prosecution said the details captured in the camera installed at the airport showed that the petitioner had aided the lady to leave the airport. The petitioner, right from the moment the lady entered the airport, had accompanied her till she boarded the flight. According to the police, many girls had been sent to the Gulf with the help of one of the accused.
