Surat's dream of national air connectivity to take wings in 2013

Surat: After waiting for so long, Surat's air connectivity has started taking off and it is likely to take wings in 2013. It is more than likely that city will witness a route war among private players to connect diamond city to different destinations like Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad.
The year 2012 saw Surat getting better connectivity to Mumbai and Delhi as private airline carrier Spice jet took the lead to fly via Surat on both sides. Then came Deccan Charters that provided intra connectivity to destinations like Bhavnagar, Diu and Ahmadabad. Indian Airlines has been flying to Surat from Delhi since 2011. Now, the situation is such that other private players, are ready to connect Surat on Indian aviation map. Already Spice jet is giving Surat passengers the direct connectivity to Chennai and flying them to the destination on Mumbai rates.
