Who will remove old eyesore from new Chennai airport?

Chennai: With the Airports Authority of India (AAI) gearing up to inaugurate the new terminals at Chennai airport, four aircraft parked within the airport for more than a decade now have turned out to be an eyesore. The skeletal remains of four Fokkers, owned by the now defunct NEPC Airlines, lie near the Coast Guard Air Station, causing rodent problems inside the airport.
Airport director H.S. Suresh told Deccan Chronicle that the matter regarding these four aircraft was in court and so AAI could not move them out. The Madras high court has ordered compulsive retention of the planes after the Indian Oil Corporation initiated several civil proceedings to recover the amount from the company.
AAI regional executive director (south) D. Devaraj said the aircraft have been parked beyond the obstacle area and are not affecting daily operations. "They have to be kept within the airport premises. Otherwise, it will become contempt of court," he added.
