Mumbai: The installation of numerous cell phone towers on hilltops around the city, which came up following the small boom in vacation homes in the outskirts, has been worrying a lot of helicopter operators.
The chopper operators claim that many of these towers are at unexpected locations and the pilots are taken by surprise, especially when the winter mist causes visibility problems. Fearing these may lead to accidents, they raised the issue in their meetings with the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
President (West Region) of the Rotary Wing Society of India, Captain Uday Gelli said, “We have apprised the authorities of our concern.”
