New Delhi: The Jet-Etihad deal entered its final phase on Thursday when the managements of both these prospective partners met aviation and commerce ministers and are now slated to meet finance minister P Chidambaram on Friday. Aviation minister Ajit Singh said after meeting Jet founder NareshGoyal and Etihad CEO James Hogan that he did not see any problems in the deal as long as it met all regulatory requirements.
"The government's role is to make sure that whatever agreement they come to is within the regulatory framework. Unless the deal is signed and approved, we can't say the deal is done. But I don't see any problems... This is a very good move... that Jet and Etihad are talking about a deal. Our concern is that the aviation sector in India should grow and that the competition should also grow," Ajit Singh said.
