Mangalore Customs collects Rs 447 cr revenue


Mangalore: The Mangalore Customs Commissionerate collected revenue of Rs 447 crore till February 4, 2012-13.
Addressing the media here on Monday, D. Purushotham, Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore, said the revenue target fixed for 2012-13 is Rs 630 crore. The commissionerate has already collected Rs 447 crore till now. “We are hopeful of achieving the target for the current fiscal,” he said. Commodities like crude oil and petroleum products, coal, fertilizers, LPG, chemicals, timbers, vegetable oil, raw cashew nuts and kernels and coffee beans contribute to revenue in the commissionerate.
Some of the major industries such as Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL) contributed Rs 50.12 crore, Udupi Power Corporation Ltd Rs 18.81 crore and Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers contributed Rs 37.25 crore to the total revenue collection till the end of December during 2012-13.
