Mopa will destroy south Goa tourism: Study

Panaji: The proposed green field airport at Mopa at the northern tip of Goa could sound the death knell for the hospitality industry and tourism at large in South Goa due to increased travelling costs and time factor, a study has stated.
The Forum for Promoting Employment and Entrepreneurship in Goa (FPEEG) in a comprehensive 80-page report released on Sunday stated that less than 30 per cent of the total tourists arriving in Goa venture to the south. They prefer the Candolim-Calangute-Anjuna stretch for its night life, flea or night markets and various musical events and spend fewer days in the south.
