Puducherry gets air link, industry upbeat

Puducherry: Puducherry's brand new air connectivity has drawn loud cheers from the corporate world. The city, which is home to a number of IT hardware majors including Acer, Lenovo and HCL along with leather accessory brand Hidesign, has a large enough business community that has long been rooting for better connectivity to and from Puducherry.
"The Puducherry airport is a lifesaver," said Dilip Kapoor, founder-CEO, Hidesign. "I have already used it to visit our Bangalore stores and we need it to expand connectivity with other metros. Lack of an airport has been the main reason our business associates avoid coming here and is a major block in hiring high level executives," he added.
Given Puducherry's status as an IT hardware hub, the connectivity to Bangalore, India's Silicon Valley, is a bonus.
