Bangalore: On Tuesday when the consortium of banks led by State Bank India were putting their heads together to pull the money plug off Vijay Mallya’s Kingfisher Airlines, a small group of his friends and relatives led by his wife Rekha Mallya were busy getting ready to visit the famous Kukke Subramanya temple North Karnataka the following day.
The temple visit -- though narrowly coinciding with the banks’ decision to recall loan -- was planned weeks ahead, according to a family friend of Mallya.
The liquor-to-airline baron’s childhood friend Ronne Iyer revealing to Banglaore Mirror the details of the visit to the temple on Wednesday said the Mallya’s better half performed a six-hour marathon pooja hoping for a miracle to save her husband’s airline from inevitable doom.
Rekha was also accompanied by her mother, brother and her daughter from her first marriage.
