Madurai: Tension prevailed in Madurai airport as lawyers attempted to barge into the airport overpowering the security personnel, as a part of the protest against Sri Lanka.
More than 150 lawyers, both from the Madurai district court and the Madras high court bench here, who reached the airport tried to enter the premises. Despite heavy police personnel deployed to avert any untoward incident, the lawyers tried to enter the airport. Crossing two barricades near the airport's main gate, the lawyers reached the entrance. When they tried to enter into the airport, a skirmish occurred between the lawyers and personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force. An advocate sustained minor injury in the skirmish as a result of which the spurred lawyers demanded an apology from the security person. The scuffle came to an end after an apology from the police.
