Biju Patnaik Airport new terminal gets 1st flight


Bhubaneswar: The new terminal of the Biju Patnaik Airport here became operational on Thursday with the landing of an Air India flight. The first flight at the terminal later took off for Port Blair.
Spread over an area of 18,240 square meters and built at a cost of Rs 145 crore, the terminal building is a modern glass and steel structure. It has a capacity to handle 800 passengers simultaneously (400 arrivals and 400 departures). It has facilities for nine planes at a time and has a modular design to facilitate future expansion.
