Mumbai: Canopies to shield passengers from the rain and heat, water-coolers and new signage are among facilities on the cards at Mumbai airport. The airport plans to decongest the approach to the domestic terminal and create a shaded area so that passengers don't get drenched during the monsoon. Recently, the auto and taxi drop-off points at the airport were segregated.
According to Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) officials, canopies will be constructed at the drop-off points to ensure a covered passenger alighting area. Work is already in progress and the canopies will be ready by monsoon. The airport will also have water-coolers outside the terminal for those waiting for flights. New signage to guide vehicles to their designated drop alleys will also be placed. "During monsoon, passengers often get drenched while taking out their luggage from vehicles. The idea behind the canopies is to make it easy for them," said an airport official.
