Chennai: The first passenger was a carpenter from Port Blair and the last a Greek couple when the new domestic terminal at Chennai airport received its first flight on Thursday afternoon. All the 93 passengers of the GoAir flight from Port Blair had a pleasantsurprise as they gotoff the plane.
"Twenty days ago, we flew outof a terminal which was not good.Today,this building isshiny and neat. We are happy to see the change," said Anastasios Sagris, a tourist."It is good airports here are becoming better," Sagris said. The passengers who started to file out of the terminal at 1.10pm were a mix of tourists, residents and traders.
Passengers had to walk to the existing terminal to meet relativesor friendsbecause visitors did not know the GoAir flight was arriving at the new building. AAI plans to keep a board at the existing terminal to display details of arrivals on the newbuilding.
