CISF constable shoots himself at Madurai airport

Madurai:  In a tragic incident, a 44-year-old constable attached to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) committed suicide by shooting himself on Sunday. The incident took place inside the Madurai airport in the noon.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar, 44, son of Thanna Lal, a native of Pawai village in Jhansi district in Uttar Pradesh. Police said that Kumar allegedly triggered his INSAS rifle on his head by shooting from the right side of his head near the eyebrow. By the time, the other security personnel went to the spot, Kumar was already dead. They then informed the local police. The incident took place at around 1.10pm when Kumar had just finished his duty.
Usually, after duty hours, all the security personnel should report at the airport gate for debriefing. Once the debriefing is completed they should handover their weapons before being disbursed from their eight-hour duty. While all the security personnel gathered at the gate, Kumar failed to come. When they began searching they found him dead, police said.
