Clearer skies see flight delays drop in February


Mumbai:  Flight delays at Mumbai airport lessened in February compared to previous months. Monthly data collected by Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) shows that the number of flights delayed one in every five times from or to the airport dropped from 390 in January to 349 in February. The reduction in delays was due to improved weather, said airport officials.
According to the data, 207 flights at Mumbai airport were delayed on more than 20% of the occasions when they came in to land. Jet Airways had the most number of delayed flights, followed by Air India (AI). But Jet Airways flights also included its low-cost wings like Jetlite and Jet Konnect. A total of 142 departures were delayed 20% of the time from Mumbai.
