Vijayawada: Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, and Airports Ganta Srinivasa Rao has said the government sanctioned Rs.70 crore for developing the Gannavaram airport.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao, along with Information Technology and Communications Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, visited the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam on Saturday and had darshan of the goddess.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that Collector Budha Prakash M. Jyothi had sent proposals for acquiring 490 acres and asked the government to allot Rs.90 crore for the expansion of the airport.
The government had accepted the proposals and sanctioned the amount for the benefit of farmers of the region.
