Six Gujarat airports to be modernised with an investment of Rs 322 crore


Ahmedabad: Six airports of Gujarat will be modernized during the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period with a total investment of Rs. 322 crore, said a central minister on Thursday. These airports are Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara.
Union minister for Civil Aviation K C Venugopal, said this while replying to a question from Parimal Nathwani, group president of Reliance Industries Ltd and Rajya Sabha MP from Jharkhand.
At Ahmedabad airport, construction of a new control tower-cum-technical block will be carried out with an estimated investment of Rs 25 crore. Work for a new domestic terminal will also begin, involving an outlay of Rs 200 crore, said a press statement from Nathwani. Other works include a new cargo complex (Rs 14 crore) and strengthening the runway for A-380 (Rs 50 crore).
