Nagpur: The custom department's air intelligence unit has intercepted three passengers travelling with 3.45kg gold, worth around Rs85lakh, after they reached Dr BabasahebAmbedkar International Airport from Sharjah in an Air Arabia flight on Friday early morning.
Sources at the airport said that the three have been identified as Arshad Ahmed Bhatkal, Mohammed Ashraf and Fawad Abdul Qadir. They were nabbed immediately after they reached here with the gold in their possession. The reason for the three passengers choosing Nagpur as their point of entry into India is still not clear, since none of them hails from the city.
