Air India’s turbulent flights

Ahmedabad: You just can’t beat Air India in inefficiency. Fighting for survival sitting on an empty bailout barrel, the national carrier should have been planning smart take-offs and touchdowns. Instead it keeps hopping lame and crashing fool.
How does one explain the April 2 episode in which its pilot detailed to fly an aircraft from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad entered another plane and flew off to Mumbai? There is no human error involved in it, neither is it a case of a virus scrambling the duty chart. There is a method in this and other similar goof-ups, and it is so dumb that it is no longer funny.
AI courts controversy almost every week by either cancelling a scheduled flight or misplacing luggage. In the last couple of weeks, a young city boy flying in from Thiruvananthapuram found his bag containing his medical reports had gone missing, another youth arrived in city from the US for his cousin’s marriage only to find his bag was globe-trotting.
