Frustrated AI crew demand resting space on long flights

Mumbai: Air India’s cabin crew has complained to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that they are often not being provided the stipulated on board resting space during duty and are asked to sleep on economy seats, where they are constantly nagged by passengers.
In their complaint to the aviation regulator, the Air India cabin crew has mentioned three issues - crew rest area not being provided, reduction in rest period when the crew is outstation and reduction of minimum rest when the crew is outstation. The crew cited these issues, especially in the flights that do not have a stopover.
The Civil Aviation Requirement on flight duty time limitation for cabin crew stipulates that in a 24-hour period, crew can operate for 11 hours. In the case of aircrafts with bunk beds, the rest period is four hours, while it is five hours for aircraft without bunk beds.
