Kanpur: HAL Transport Division (TAD) had exceeded its production target during year 2012-13. It has completed production of seven new HAL-DO-228 multi-role utility aircraft along with repair and overhaul of HS-748 Avros, AN-32, Dorniers and other equipment.
General manager D Balasubramaiam said that production also included handing over of a HAL-D0-228 maritime surveillance aircraft to Seychelles, which is planning to utilise this aircraft for guarding its long coastline. Initial operation and maintenance will be supported by a team from TAD positioned at the customer's end.
He said that HAL-DO-228 has been configured for variety of roles such as regional airliner, air taxi, transport, maritime surveillance, intelligence warfare, troop transport and para-jumping. Owing to these features, this aircraft is the proven workhouse of Indian Air Force, Coast Guard and Navy.
