Amritsar: The customs officials in a joint operation with State Special Operation Cell of Punjab detained a man carrying 41 gold biscuits, each weighing 116 grams, concealed in a specially made waist belt and under his feet with the help of a tape as he landed at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport Amritsar from Dubai in an Air India Express flight on Thursday night.
The total weight of the biscuits was 4.788 kilograms, it was learnt. The man was identified as Raja Kumar, a resident of Amritsar, based on the passport he was travelling.
Sources told The Indian Express that during his interrogation, the man told that he worked as courier to bring the consignment from Dubai and that he was not the man the consignment was meant for. Investigators told that Raja Kumar had two passports, one on the name of Rohit Arora, and stated before the officials that he was a "frequent flyer".
