Prepaid taxi racket at domestic airport?

Mumbai: A gang of unscrupulous taxi drivers has allegedly been operating at the domestic airport's prepaid stand, jumping queues, not wearing badges/proper uniforms and refusing to ply short distances.
Taxi union leader A L Quadros recently approached the transport commissioner a few days back and demanded that a special squad be set up to crack the whip on such errant drivers. Regional transport officer (western suburbs) A N Bhalchandra said he would look into the problem.
Shailesh Kumar, who recently arrived from Amritsar to Mumbai by air, was allotted a cab driven by a man who was not wearing a uniform. "He did not have a badge but he was operating in the airport area. He also demanded the driver's copy of the receipt while commencing the journey. We are supposed to hand over the receipt only after completing the journey,'' he said.
Another woman passenger said she was harassed by some drivers at the Cool Cab stand. "Drivers approach us when we stand in the queue," she said.
