Ranchi airport to get 3 more parking bays

Ranchi:  Birsa Munda Airport will get three more parking bays taking the total number up to eight. With the new facilities, Ranchi will probably be the only airport in the tier-II cities to have eight parking bays.
The planning wing of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has approved construction of the three bays. A decision in this connection has been conveyed to AAI officials here also. AAI will soon float tenders for the purpose and begin the jib. Recently, the AAI has made free night halt for aircraft at city airport which is likely to invite several flights for night stay.
The cost of constructing three bays is likely to be Rs 10 crore. Each bay is likely to cost above Rs 3 crore. The bays which will be based on power-in and power-out system will be enough to house Airbus-320, Airbus 321 and Boeing 767 type of aircraft.
