Aerocity project near Indira Gandhi International airport gets security clearance

New Delhi: The Aerocity project - a bunch of five-star hotels near the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport - has cleared the first major hurdle with a high-level committee giving the green light to it subject to some security riders.
The committee, comprising a panel of experts from government's various departments, has recommended that bulletproof heavy glass should be used in all hotel windows facing runways. It has also advised using censor devices at all windows so that any attempt to break the glasses can be detected immediately.
The panel said that the hotels operating at Aerocity should have sophisticated security gadgets like body scanner and others. Besides, hotels have been advised to install a biometric system just to avoid unwanted access.
Among the recommendations that have been submitted to the ministry of civil aviation is providing limited access to the roof tops of high-rise buildings.
