Nedumbassery: The Cochin International Airport Ltd has decided to provide professional training in aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) services to persons selected exclusively from the families who have surrendered their house and land for the airport project, according to a notification issued recently.
According to officials, the training is part of CIAL’s corporate social responsibility, but at the same time it has a greater intention of rehabilitating the people who surrendered their properties but have not been compensated properly.
According to the notification, 50 persons would be selected for the six-month training, which will have two months’ foundation course or preparatory training conducted at the CIAL Academy.CIAL does not guarantee any job or job placement to these trainees, said the notification.
But the candidates successfully completing the basic fireman training at AAI’s ARFF facility are considered professionally trained, and they are employable at various airports in India and outside.
