Chennai: The steel and glass new terminals at the airport may look snazzy, but the toilets inside are a mess. Passengers cringe at the toilets made in a crude fashion with poorly fixed floor tiles. Commodes in the new domestic terminal are fixed on raised platforms from where water run off to other cubicles.
Things are no different inside the new international terminal which may be opened in a month following an ultimatum from the civil aviation ministry.
Though the terminals are vast and spacious, there are not many toilets. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), which spent 2,015 crore on the buildings, seems to have overlooked crucial passenger amenities.
