Bhubaneswar: Given the angry reactions of passengers who alighted of the three Kolkata-bound flights, which made an emergency landing at the Biju Patnaik airport here on Sunday, looks like the two-month-old modern domestic terminal of the airport failed to clear its first real acid test.
When the Raipur-Kolkata (Indigo), Bengaluru-Kolkata (Indigo) and Agartala-Kolkata ( Air India) flights landed here carrying at least five people injured mid-air, no ambulance was immediately at hand to attend to the injured even though the airport authorities, according to sources, were intimated about an hour in advance about the imminent emergency landing of the aircrafts and the condition of the injured passengers. Neither was there any airport staff to provide the traumatized passengers the much-needed psychological counselling after the hour-long mid-air ordeal they underwent due to turbulent weather.
