Passengers at Chennai airport unruffled

Chennai: While alarm bells were pressed over the crashing of false ceiling at the new terminal early Monday morning, the tolerant attitude of air passengers in Chennai who never complain about anything has intrigued those in the know of things at the city airport.
On Tuesday, the airport officials covered up the broken ceiling panels and threw open the two boarding gates on the ground floor for passengers’ use. Passengers seated below those repaired ceiling were not perturbed.
It may be noted that even on the old premises, Chennaiites didn’t complain about leaking toilets, faulty air conditioners and poor seating arrangements. “Usually south Indians are much more mild than those in the rest of the country. Since, it is a new terminal, they are not complaining such, as posh sophistication is all around,” said Air Passengers Association of India (APAI) president D. Sudhakara Reddy. However, he added that a special investigation of the whole process right from the planning stage of the new terminals should be conducted.
