Protest against transfer of official in Aranmula

Pathanamthitta: The Aranmula Paitruka Grama Karma Samiti has accused the government of unseating A. Abdul Samad from the post of the Kozhencherry Taluk Land Board Chairman with a design to abet unlawful activities of a private airport company at Aranmula.
In a statement here on Tuesday, Samiti general convener P. Induchoodan alleged that the government’s act of punishing honest officials by transferring them to far-off places just because they had acted against the interests of the company was condemnable. Mr. Samad, who hailed from Karunagappally, was honoured as the best Deputy Collector in the district during the first anniversary celebrations of the United Democratic Front government. However, it was highly deplorable on the part of the government to shift him to Wayanad during the second anniversary celebrations of the government only because he had taken stern measures to protect the laws of the land, he said.
The Samiti leader said the government’s modus operandi of shifting those officials, including the Collector and the Deputy Collector, for not dancing to the company’ tune had raised apprehensions in the people.
