Raipur: A stray canine had a field day at the Raipur airport on Sunday, resulting in an aborted landing of an incoming Jet Airways flight. The dog was reportedly spotted on the runway by the pilot who was cleared for landing with 136 passengers on board from Mumbai.
The incident occurred at around 8.40am when the pilot radioed the ATC about the canine's presence on the runway seconds before the touch down. He also had to go around despite being cleared, giving some anxious moments to the passengers on-board.
While airport officials refused to comment on the incident, sources said that security and ground staff was immediately alerted and they chased the dog away from the runway. The plane circled for about 10 minutes and eventually landed after clearance from the ATC.
