Will Chennai's international terminal be open by mid-May?

Chennai: Almost a month after it’s just-as-fancy domestic counterpart began handling air passengers, the newly constructed international terminal at the Chennai airport may be open for business from May 15. Unfortunately, not all international travellers will be able to escape passing through the run-down Anna International for a while, as both the new and old terminals will be in use at least till the end of August, said well placed sources.
In the face of mounting pressure to get the massive steel-and-glass edifice open, Airports Authority of India (AAI) staff are working hard to clear all obstacles on the operations side.
“There are several meetings that are being conducted in this regard in Delhi and we are hopeful of working things out and opening doors soon,” said airport director H S Suresh.
