AAI to create a common integrated information base across airports

New Delhi: In a first-of-its-kind initiative the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has initiated a programme to set up a common information base across multiple airports to provide accurate real-time data to airlines, airport operators, passengers and other stakeholders.
The project, being implemented in collaboration with NIIT Technologies and SITA, envisages setting up an Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) which will help improve airport management by consolidating multiple sets of information and providing accurate real-time data from a single source.
Arvind Mehrotra, president, Asia-pacific & Middle East, NIIT Technologies, said, “Currently most airports are managed manually and with increasing passenger traffic, quality of service provided to customers is deteriorating. The AOCC will consolidate information from multiple sources and create a common information base for all stakeholders - be it airlines or ground handling service providers, customs or security personnel - involved in managing operations at an airport. The AOCC will improve utilization of airport infrastructure and allow collaborative decision making in day-to-day operations.”
