AP government arranges special flight to airlift pilgrims today

Hyderabad: The state government has arranged a special flight from Dehradun to Hyderabad on the evening of June 26 to airlift pilgrims stranded in Uttarakhand and being rescued by armed forces and paramilitary forces.
According to sources, around 1,200 stranded pilgrims have been rescued and sent back to the state so far. Another 600 to 800 are on their way to Delhi and different parts of the state. Still 600 or more are still feared stranded in Uttarakhand.
On the directions of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who visited AP Bhavan in Delhi on Tuesday to sympathise with the rescued pilgrims and personally review the rescue and relief operations in the flood-ravaged Uttarakhand, a Boeing 737 belonging to Jet Airways with a capacity of 168 passengers will leave Dehradun at 5:15 pm and reach Hyderabad at 7:30 pm on Wednesday. Minister for civil supplies D Sridhar Babu will accompany the rescued pilgrims to Hyderbad.
