Chennai: The swanky steel and glass new domestic terminal of Chennai airport proved fragile yet again after it witnessed leaks when rains lashed the city on Sunday.
Just as airport staff were wondering what's was in store for them, after a false ceiling crashed when it rained last time in the city, water seeped in from the joints of an emergency window on the ground floor departure lounge. A few aerobridges too got wet after water dripped from the boarding gate. Two escalators had to be switched off, as a precaution, near boarding gates H3 and H4 when water drifted into the base of the machine.
Sources said water seepage was found near boarding gates that connected to aerobridges on the first floor departure area. The floor carpets near the boarding counter also got wet.
