Chennai: A Chinese national was arrested at Chennai airport early on Thursday morning on charges of smuggling red sanders worth Rs 10 lakh.
Police said Xiang, 42, had come to India on a tourist visa and was to return to Kuala Lumpur on a Malaysia Airlines flight.
Customs officials, suspicious of the parcel he was carrying, detained him in a room and the aircraft was allowed to proceed.
