Mumbai: The implementation of the Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) service, inaugurated at the Cochin International Airport early this week, will be delayed because the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is yet to issue a gazette notification. "We will not be able to start issuing VoAs unless the Ministry issues the order specifying the date of commencement of the service, and deploys the required number of personnel to man the counters,'' said an airport official, as per a report by T Ramavarman in The Times of India.
The Tourism Department, Government of Kerala officials said the VoA service was getting postponed because of the delay in posting Iintelligence Bureau personnel at the counters. It has been estimated that about 900 posts should be created to man the VoA counters in different airports across the country.
