Mumbai: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) officials have arrested two passengers, in separate cases, at the Mumbai airport for attempting to smuggle in gold.
In the first case, a man concealed gold ornaments and bars worth more than Rs 21 lakh in his trouser pockets and underpants, while in the second, a woman tried to smuggle in ornaments worth more than Rs 50 lakh in her bags.
In the second incident, Shabana Shaikh (32) landed in the city from Dubai on Friday morning, and was intercepted on prior intelligence by AIU officials.
