Margao: Former minister Churchill Alemao on Saturday criticized his party, the Congress, and party colleague, Ramakant Khalap, on the Mopa airport issue, while suggesting that the government acquire land allotted to an agro firm at Zuarinagar for the expansion of Dabolim airport.
"I am against the statement made by Ramakant Khalap. He cannot make statements on behalf of the Congress party on the airport issue," Alemao told mediaperons on Saturday.
He called Khalap's support of Mopa a pro-Maharashtra stand even as he criticized the Congress for failing to come out clear on its stand on the two airports' issue.
"I have written to the high command to clear the stand of the Congress on the airport controversy. I am against Mopa airport which will benefit Maharashtra. If Dabolim closes the entire economy of Goa will be severely affected," said Alemao.
