Itanagar: Expressing concern over the "arbitrary" enhancement of air fares, especially in sectors connecting the North Eastern Region (NER) to rest of the country, Arunachal MP Takam Sanjoy has sought intervention of the Union Civil Aviation Ministry.
In a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh, Sanjoy pleaded for introduction of an "effective mechanism" to regulate air fares for domestic travel with special emphasis to the sectors of the NER, official sources said here on Thursday.
The MP said the sudden spurt in air fares comes at a time when there was a huge flow of students from the region to different parts of the country for admission purposes.
