Plane truth: Expect flight delays for next 2 months

Mumbai: Six city-bound flights had to hold over in the skies for about 25 minutes before landing on Sunday morning due to poor runway visibility.
The runway visibility had dropped to 500m, 50m less than the minimum required.
Four of the six flights had to carry out a missed approach as they couldn't see the runway clearly. Though operations normalized after 25 minutes, Mumbai airport officials said weather-related delays will continue for the next two months. "There will be an average delay of about 30 minutes," said an airport official. "The delay will be more on heavy rain days."
Low visibility is one of the main reasons for flight delays and diversions. Due to the presence of thunderclouds, visibility drops, making it impossible for flights to land.
